But it is one of the hardest things to do. While we admit that some people thrive and shine best in an unorganized environment, most of us need some form of organization. 2) Learning New Skills or a Hobby

In this world where you can literally starve without enough money, saving money is among the top priority for everyone. Having some additional money is more than just piling up finances. It is also saving some money for emergencies. However, saving money is like trying to grasp loose sand. It slips through our hands without us realizing it, given the bills we have to pay and small expenses that pile on. Therefore although many people make a resolution to save money each year, very few can keep this resolution, most often through no fault of their own. 

4) Quit Addiction

Addiction is never a good thing, and it severely harms us. The sad thing is that roughly 2% of the global population is addicted to hard drugs. This may not seem much, but we should remember that the world’s population crossed 8 Billion at the time of this writing. Given this context, it makes up for roughly 160 million people who are deeply into hard drugs. This is not counting other forms of addiction like caffeine and sugar. The good news is that many people want to quit their addiction. However, quitting addiction is extremely hard, and very few people overcome this hurdle, making quitting addiction one of the most common new years resolutions and sadly one of the most commonly broken ones.

We live in a busy world where we are constantly overworked or overburdened. As a result, the time we spend with friends and family decreases as we age. But it doesn’t mean we don’t want to spend more time with family and friends. It’s just that by the end of the day, we are too exhausted to do so. Some of us don’t even have enough rest, and it is hard to have a perfect work-life balance to ensure that we spend more time with friends and family.

The combination of wanting to spend more time and not having adequate time makes this, sadly, one of the most popular resolutions and one of the most commonly broken ones too. 

7) Live Life to the Fullest

This rather vague new resolution can mean anything, depending on the individual. For some, it means watching all the Korean series on Netflix that they kept on pending for years, or it may mean travelling. The point of this most common new years resolution is to do anything that can make yourself happy and – live life to the fullest. 

You can already see why this is one of the most common new years resolutions and one of the most broken ones. Life seldom goes as we plan, and although not impossible, it is hard to live life to the fullest with everything happening around the world.

Sleep is severely underrated; its importance is severely underestimated. This is even more so with modern life, where we stay late into the night with our devices and wake up tired. Inadequate sleep doesn’t just result in groggy mornings; it can lead to several mental issues, including but not limited to depression, insomnia, anxiety, and more. In fact, it is estimated that roughly 30% to 40% of adults suffer some form of insomnia globally. This is not a small matter, and many adults realize this problem. As such, tons of people (a few on our team included) make resolutions to get adequate sleep. However, we also know that it is harder than it sounds, and few people can continue with this new year’s resolution. 

9) Promotion

Although this may sound cliche, getting a promotion is one of the most popular new years resolutions. This ties in with all our other new year’s popular resolutions that have anything to do with money and finances. Getting a promotion in a job means more money, which means more ability to save, more resources to travel, more ability to be organized, and more time to spend with the family. This new years resolution is not just about stepping up the corporate ladder; it has to do the resources to do things we all want to do. Although many who make this new year’s resolution do fulfil it, in some fields, getting a promotion is quite tough, and as a result, many of us fail to live up to this resolution.

Since the alternative is choosing the best-tasting food, it is easy to break this resolution.
